Getting Taken to the Cleaners
Questions
1. Why do people who own washing machines still go to the dry cleaners?
2. Can you suggest two advantages of recycling the solvents used in the dry-cleaning process?
3. Heat generally causes materials to expand. If this is true, why do some fabrics shrink when washed?

1.)Because even though most clothes are washed in the washing machine, some clothes have to be cleaned with certain chemicals at the dry cleaners.
ReplyDelete2.)Recycling them is being less wasteful and the material can be used less.
3.)Because the cold of the water causes the materials molecules to slow down causing them to move closer together making it shrink.
1.they own there own washing machine because most clothes are washed in the washing machine but some clothes have to be cleaned with certain chemical or machine at the dry cleaners
ReplyDelete2.recycling them is better for the enviroment because the material can be used less
3.because when the water is cold it causes the molecules in the close to move closer and that makes it shrink
1. Some materials have to be cleaned with certain chemicals so they go to the dry cleaners.
ReplyDelete2.It would save the environment by recycling and using less material.
3. Cold water causes the molecules to move closer and closer so it makes it shrink.

1- So that people can get the wrinckles out of their cloths
ReplyDelete2- recyling the solvent is being less waste full and so theirs more of it for later
3-the material the cloths are made of have a chemical reaction with the water to shrink
Colin Eaton
Dry Cleaning is still used beacause some clothes shrink at home or water can damage the fabric.
ReplyDeleteIt is important to recyle because the solvent is harmful and dangerous so using less is better.
The reason they shrink is because there expand for a long time then get into cold air and suddenly shrink making them smaller
-Zack Emrich
1. Because some cloths will shrink or become misshapen in water.
ReplyDelete2. 1) It is environmentaly friendly and
2) It costs less money
3. The water is cold.
1)The reason why people still go to the dry cleaners is because special fabrics need special care and need different chemicals for cleaning. This is why people still go to the dry cleaners.
ReplyDelete2)The reason why people recycle the solvents is so the solvents can be reused.
3)Some fabrics con tract because of thee cold water and the molecules contract. This is why the fabrics shrink when they are in the washer.
-Matthew Kalhofer
The people go there because they have special additives that cause your clothes not to shrink
ReplyDeleteIt is important that you recycle because if you don't, your wasting supplies and the solvent is dangerous]\
Because sometimes the water is cold and cool molecules cause the clothing to shrink
1. Some clothes could become damaged and dry cleaners do a bet efficient job.
ReplyDelete2. Using less of harmful substances is better also it is less wasteful and can be reused.
3. because instead of hot water we use cold water causing the molecules shrink.

1.) Because people need to get their clothes dried. If they only have a washing machine, like you said, then they'll have wet clothes. Also because some of their clothes are dry-clean only.
ReplyDelete2.)If it was recycled, at least it wasn't thrown outside into water or on the grass. If it was, that would hurt the environment more.
3.)The heat shrinks certain materials, in this case, the clothes shrink. It's like when you take a water bottle filled with air and put it under water, leaving the cap on. It crushes itself. So, even if most materials expand with heat, some don't.
-Paul Plunkett
1. people still go to the dry cleaners because some clothes can be damaged by water, which reguar machines use. They also removed stains that are insoluable in water.
ReplyDelete2. recycling the chemicals is more environmentally-friendly and it same money.
3.some fabrics shrink because the water is cold, and the molecules are slowed, so the clothes shrink
1.Dry cleaners are still used because they are careful handeling clothes, when at home clothes are damaged more often.
ReplyDelete2.When you recycle the solvent, it is better for the environment, otherwise, you would be damaging the environment.
3.Although heat causes molecules to expand, fabrics still shrink because the cold water causes the molecules to slow down, and the clothes end up shrinking.
